A Special Moment at the Cathedral City Library

Another unforgettable milestone for Zoe—this time at the Cathedral City Library, where she submitted and performed her very own poem.

Standing up and sharing her work out loud is no small thing, but Zoe did it with heart and courage. As her words filled the room, it was clear she wasn’t just reading a poem—she was sharing a piece of herself. Moments like these are what shape a writer, and Zoe embraced it fully.

What made the experience even more meaningful was an unexpected connection. While there, Zoe met the author, Charlie Ervin Jr,  of The Tutu and the Lizard’s Great Escape, who took the time to encourage her, speak life into her journey, and truly hype her up. Their words meant so much—reminding Zoe that she’s on the right path and that her voice matters.

It’s powerful when established authors take a moment to lift up the next generation, and this was one of those moments Zoe will carry with her. She left not only proud of herself, but even more inspired to keep writing, sharing, and growing.

I still can’t believe this is real

I got to meet some of the authors who inspire me the most-and share my book with them!!! Meeting Jeff Kinney was such a full-circle moment. His books made me want to start writing my own stories, and getting to show him my self-published book meant everything to me. Thank you for inspiring me to keep writing and dreaming big!

I also got to ask a question about how to get a publishing deal and advice for young creatives and Mychal and Joanna Ho gave me the kindest, most thoughtful advice. Hearing them answer my question(and cheering me on)made me feel so encouraged and excited for what’s ahead.

Thank you Kaylani Juanita for being so kind and supportive- it meant so much to me. From holding my own book…to seeing these amazing authors and illustrator hold it too…to getting to learn from them in person-this is a day I will never forget. And thank you to Solano Library for putting on this amazing event.
I’m going to keep writing. One day I hope to inspire other kids the same way they inspire me.

Some moments feel like the beginning of something big—and Zoe’s recent book signing at The Open Book in Pasadena was exactly that.

From the moment guests walked in, there was a buzz of excitement in the air. A sign on the door invited everyone to “Meet the author Zoe Garrett,” and just like that, it felt official. Not just a fun event, but a true author moment. And for Zoe, at just 14 years old, it was a milestone she’ll never forget.

Throughout the day, Zoe connected with new readers, sharing her story, signing books, and soaking in every conversation. It wasn’t just about selling copies—it was about building connections, hearing reactions, and seeing firsthand how her words resonate with others. Watching her engage so naturally and confidently, you could tell this is only the beginning.

There was so much joy in the room. Friends, family, and new fans all gathered to support her, creating an atmosphere that was warm, encouraging, and full of pride. Zoe truly stepped into her role as an author, and she owned it.

By the end of the event, one thing was clear: Zoe didn’t just feel like a “young writer” anymore—she felt like a legitimate author. And she is!

Some milestones feel extra big—and Zoe’s recent TV interview was definitely one of them.

Zoe had the incredible opportunity to be interviewed by Patrick Evans on Eye on the Desert , where she shared all about her book and her journey as a young author.

Leading up to the interview, Zoe felt the most nervous she has ever been. The bright studio lights, the cameras, the idea of speaking on live television—it was a lot to take in. Like many big moments, the excitement and nerves showed up together.

But when it was time to go live, Zoe did something truly special.

She pushed through the nerves.

She took a deep breath, trusted herself, and stepped into the moment with courage. And she did amazing. She spoke about her book, shared her story, and represented herself with confidence and heart. Watching her turn nervous energy into bravery was something we’ll never forget.

Moments like this aren’t just about being on TV—they’re about growth. They’re about realizing that being brave doesn’t mean you aren’t scared. It means you move forward anyway.

The holiday season brought another special milestone for Zoe as she attended a Christmas fair filled with festive fun, families, and young readers.

Surrounded by twinkling lights and holiday excitement, Zoe proudly shared her book with visitors and connected with families throughout the event. One of the highlights of the day was hosting story time, where children gathered to listen and enjoy her story together. Seeing their smiles, laughter, and curiosity made the experience truly magical.

Events like this are a reminder of why Zoe loves being an author—sharing stories, meeting readers, and creating joyful moments through books. The Christmas fair was full of warm conversations, new supporters, and memories that will last far beyond the holiday season.

Zoe had the chance to meet Maritere, the author of Tio Ricky Doesn’t Speak English at The Frugal Frigate in Redlands.

Zoe asked her what advice she has for a young, self-published author, and Maritere didn’t just answer- she poured into her! They talked about Zoe’s Christmas story, shared their books with each other, and gave Zoe the kindest words of encouragement.

And exciting news-Zoe will be doing her own book reading at the Frugal Frigate on December 13,2025 at 3pm Her books will also be available for purchase at the store.

Zoe celebrated her book launch with a joyful community event that blended creativity, generosity, and celebration. Guests made bookmarks and other crafts, enjoyed food, and helped support a toy drive — attendees who brought a gift were entered into a raffle. Thanks to donations from local businesses Just a Small Town Grill and Morongo Cookie Co., we were able to include a lovely gift basket for one lucky winner.

Zoe read from her book, followed by a lively Q&A where she answered questions about her writing process and inspirations. She closed the event by thanking everyone who came out and supported her — a heartfelt moment that highlighted how much this community means to her. The launch was a perfect mix of fun and purpose, and a wonderful start to Zoe’s next chapter.

This past weekend was another milestone moment for Zoe—and one we couldn’t be more proud of.

Heading into her second children’s book fair, Zoe felt those familiar butterflies. Even with one successful event under her belt, the nerves were real. Would people stop by? Would kids connect with her story? Would she remember everything she wanted to say?

But just like she always does, Zoe took a deep breath and jumped right in.

From the moment people walked on by, she greeted families with a smile, shared her story with confidence, and connected with young readers in the sweetest way. Watching her talk about her book, answer questions, and light up when kids got excited was truly special.

And the results? Incredible.

Zoe sold over 20 books at the fair and was honored with the Top Earner Award for the event. What an achievement! Not just for the sales, but for the courage, growth, and heart she brought to the experience.

More than anything, Zoe loved meeting new readers. She listened to kids share their favorite parts, signed books with care, and soaked in every moment of being a young author in the real world. Each conversation reminded her why she loves writing in the first place—connecting with others through stories.

ILEAD Entrepreneur Fair

Zoe’s first time at the ILEAD Entrepreneur Fair was a whirlwind of nerves, energy, and excitement. She arrived jittery and unsure, clutching her books and wondering if anyone would stop. Then her very first sale happened — and everything changed. That single moment turned her nervousness into pure joy, and by the end of the day she’d sold more than 20 books.

Beyond the numbers, the fair was a crash course in entrepreneurship. Zoe learned the power of a friendly greeting and a clear elevator pitch: a few confident sentences helped people understand her book and why it mattered. She discovered how presentation matters — simple signage, a tidy table, and sample pages made browsers into buyers. Managing cash and digital payments taught her basic bookkeeping and the importance of staying organized during a busy event. She also experienced the value of persistence: not every passerby bought a book, but a steady, positive presence drew people in over time.

Zoe left the fair not just with more sales than she expected, but with new confidence, sharper selling skills, and a clearer plan for her next event. It was proof that putting yourself out there works — and that a single first sale can change everything.

I had the pleasure of being interviewed by Bianca Forte on her radio show — and right away she put me at ease. Her warm, curious style made the conversation feel like chatting with a friend.

We talked about how I self-published my very first book at 14 — the excitement, the challenges, and what that early leap into writing taught me about persistence and storytelling. I also shared the authors who shaped my love of reading and writing: Erin Hunter for immersive world-building, Jeff Kinney for humor and relatability, and Dav Pilkey for fearless, playful creativity.

One of the most joyful moments of the interview was when we spoke about dreams I’m still manifesting: appearing on Reading Rainbow and meeting Mychal the librarian. Saying those goals out loud on air felt powerful — like planting seeds that are already starting to grow.
